Different than your average, everyday hot cocoa mix (which often includes dry milk powder and sugar), our Spiced Ancho Dark Drinking Chocolate contains only direct-trade dark chocolate from Latin America, organic Peruvian cocoa, and the freshest ground spices on the market.

Mix with milk—or any milk alternative—to create a sipping experience that can be dairy-free and sweetened to your own individual taste. Serve it thick and hot, or chilled over ice and topped with whipped cream for a delicious warm-weather treat.


Each bag of our 12 oz. Drinking Chocolate mix includes an original recipe from our co-founder Kate Shaffer for treats like Dirty Chai Brownies, Matcha-Cara Cara Pound Cake, and Indian Curry Chocolate Pudding. BEST hot chocolate ever. Really.

I gave away a lot of this hot chocolate as Christmas gifts and it will be my new hostess gift as well. I fell 'under the weather' in December and wanted to be a little more healthy and drink less coffee so I made a cup of Ancho Chile hot chocolate--and did not add more sugar. Boom! I found my new go to coffee alternative, winter drink (I'll try it cold in summer). Thank you Ragged Coast Team. Keep up the good work!

From our kitchen to yours

Kate Shaffer, artistic director and founder of Ragged Coast Chocolates, started making exquisite confections in her tiny, home kitchen on Isle Au Haut, Maine eight years ago. From truffles and caramels to cookbooks and baking mixes, Kate and her husband Steve have grown the company far beyond its modest start into an award-winning and nationally-recognized purveyor of the finest chocolates in the world.
